Optimal Image Dimensions

Postby boisemarketer » Thu Mar 04, 2010 2:08 am

I am trying to create a 3D Product photo (DVD Case) using the Photoshop plugin. Rather than using the presets, I am looking to create my own product from the ground up.

What are the best dimensions to create a 2D image for front, back and spine to achieve this?

Is there a complete listing of appropriate height and width for each 3D Product?

The forums seems empty of this topic and the program's help function doesn't work in Vista it seems.

Current Configuration:
Vista Home Premium 64 Bit

My recommendation for the cover dimensions is very simple: Relation of the 2D cover sizes to 3D image size should be at least 1:1.
For example in case you want to create a 3D DVD Case picture with dimensions 200x200 pixels, then make the DVD front cover width at least 200 pixels.

Higher dimensions of the 2D cover will probably not produce extra details, but will increase the rendering time.
